Sierra Leone Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James Teima, the Executive Director of the National Sports Authority, Emmanuel Saffa Abdulia, the National Olympic Committee/Commonwealth Games Association of Sierra Leone (NOC/CGA-SLE President Prince Vandy Sualley, and others made a significant visit to athletes and officials at the Olympic Village in Paris.
As the event at the Summer Olympic Games 2024 in Paris continues to heat up, the visiting team which also includes NOC/CGA-SLE Secretary General, Joseph Nyande, and President of Sierra Leone Athletic Association, Martin Bangura had a very good family exchange.
Welcoming the team at the Games village, Chief De Mission, Yayah thanked the delegation for their time and all the support they have rendered throughout the run-up to the games.
While introducing the team and officials at the Games Village, the Chef De Mission stated that contrary to fake reports on social media and other platforms, it is very important and evident that all four athletes are in the Games Village.
The NOC/CGA-SLE President Prince Vandy Sualley thanked the team for their work done so far as well as both the Sports Ministry and the NSA for their support.
He said: “We are grateful to the President of Sierra Leone, and his government through the Ministry and the NSA for their support.”
The NOC/CGA-SLE boss advised the athletes to leave their dreams as Olympia and congratulated young Judoka Marima Koroma for her outstanding courageous performance despite losing her contest.
The Executive Director of NSA, Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai also showers praise on the courageous performance of young Koroma and further assured the athletes of the government’s commitment toward their growth.
“We believe this game is a learning curve, when we return we will have a review and look at what we need to do because we are not going to games to participate but to compete,” the NSA Director said.
The Sports Minister also re-echoed the government support and thanked President Bionfor for not only showing leadership by supporting Team Sierra Leone but also being the first Sierra Leone President to be at the games and cheer up the athletes.
The visit was climaxed with a tour around the Games Village.
