In an exciting development for Sierra Leonean athletes and fans alike, the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Sierra Leone has revealed its official kit for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The sleek and stylish kit, proudly branded by global sportswear giant Adidas in collaboration with Labrum Clothing was unveiled under the creative direction of Foday Dumbuya, the talented Sierra Leonean Creative Director of Labrum Clothing.

The launch event held at the Africell Beach Volleyball Arena, Lumley Beach was attended by dignitaries, athletes, and members of the press, all eager to catch a glimpse of the highly anticipated designs. The NOC of Sierra Leone expressed its gratitude to Adidas for their partnership in providing world-class attire that not only embodies the spirit of the nation but also meets the high standards required for elite athletic performance on the global stage.

“She has done a lot and your manifestation of being here is because of her tenacity to make sure that things happen for gymnastics,” he said.

In his statement, the NOC’s Treasurer Unisa Deen Kargbo stated that they are always excited to see the growth of sports.

“This is a small NOC and we are still looking for our first gold medal, maybe silver or bronze medal so we are still looking for a medal and we think five years will be too long for us, possibly after Paris, the Los Angeles Games, we have to be on the podium, if not at the Olympics but at the Commonwealth Games or All African Games so the next five years Sierra Leone should be at the medal podium, that is why we are happy that we have a whole active development minded person like Anna in our Olympic Committee,” he said.

Kargbo underscored that the Gymnastic Federation won a silver medal in the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games in Turkey, expressing their hope to see gymnastics give them more medals because they see the potential in them.

In his statement during the official unveiling, the President of the National Olympic Committee Prince Sualley said the kits are a product of the creative genius of Sierra Leonean designer, Foday Dunbuya, in collaboration with Adidas, are not just attire but a symbol of the country national spirit and determination. “We are reminded of the journey we have embarked upon as a nation. These kits represent our collective dreams and the fiery passion that drives each athlete to excel,” he said.
President Sualley affirmed that Dumbuya, a beacon of Sierra Leonean creativity, has woven the essence of the country into every thread of these designs. “His work, which stands at the intersection of fashion, culture and art, has now become the fabric that will drape our athletes as they compete on the world’s greatest sporting stage.”
“To our athletes, these kits are your armour. Wear them with pride and honour, knowing that you carry the hopes of our nation with you. Let the vibrant colours and unique patterns inspire you to reach new heights and push beyond the limits. The NOC President continued. “As we look forward to the Olympic Games, let us all rally behind Team Sierra Leone. Let us celebrate the unity and strength that sports bring to our nation. Together, we stand on the cusp of greatness, ready to show the world the indomitable spirit of Sierra Leone,” he noted.
The Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James-Teima, emphasized the important of the Olympic Games, adding that the kits will serve as a big motivation for the athletes. “These are the highest placed games; these are games that we can’t joke with. You can have all the skills, but when you lack the motivation, team concentration and other things that merge with the skills then it’s a problem. We are just emphasizing the situation wherein we want to see our athletes who will be representing us in the forthcoming event being highly motivated to be in the best kits and I know what it means.
“Today is a special day that tells us that nothing should stop us from going to give our best in the international games that are about to happen. They are the strongest games. This is no mistake, it has started setting the stage for us to know that whenever we are there we have to give our best,” she admonished the athletes.
Foday Dumbuya, known for his innovative and culturally resonant designs, infused the Sierra Leonean identity into every aspect of the kit, drawing inspiration from the country’s rich heritage, vibrant colors, and dynamic spirit. Speaking at the launch, Foday Dumbuya shared his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “It has been an honor to work with the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone and adidas to create a kit that reflects the pride and determination of our athletes.
