The National Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association of Sierra Leone (NOC/CGA-SLE) has officially received a consignment of archery equipment from World Archery and World Archery Africa, presented by the President of the Sierra Leone Archery Association Mr. Yayah Koroma.
The presentation ceremony, held at the NOC/CGA-SLE headquarters at Walpole Street, marks a significant milestone in the growth of archery in Sierra Leone. The donated equipment includes standard training and competition bows, arrows, target faces, protective gear, and other accessories designed to support grassroots development and athlete preparation.
During the presentation, Mr. Yayah Koroma expressed profound appreciation to World Archery and World Archery Africa for their continued support in developing the sport in emerging nations. He also commended the Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Sports, as well as the leadership of NOC/CGA-SLE, for their instrumental role in facilitating the smooth clearance of the equipment from the National Ports Authority.
“We are truly grateful not only for the equipment itself but also for the tremendous institutional support that made its arrival and clearance possible,” Mr. Koroma noted. “This partnership is a strong step toward establishing archery as a competitive and inclusive sport in Sierra Leone.”
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Olympic family, NOC/CGA-SLE President, Mr. Prince Sualley, applauded the initiative and reiterated the NOC’s commitment to strengthening the development of Olympic sports across all disciplines. He encouraged the Archery Association to continue its work in expanding opportunities for youth and aspiring athletes.
“This donation represents more than tools for training, it symbolizes progress, inclusion, and international cooperation. We remain committed to supporting emerging federations like archery in achieving their full potential,” Mr. Sualley stated.
The ceremony was attended by members of the NOC Executive Board and the press. The donation is expected to significantly enhance the capacity of the National Archery Association to roll out structured training programs, promote safe practice, and prepare for regional and international competitions.
