Sierra Leone’s only athletic representative at the Paris 2024 Olympics Games, Georgiana Sesay will come up against Asimenye Simwaka of Malawi and seven others today at the Stade de France.
The Sierra Leone sprinter has been placed in Heat 4 of the Women’s 100m preliminary round for Friday’s showdown and she has already been placed in Lane One of Heat.
Sesay will have to be at her best to overcome the likes of Simwaka who made her Olympics debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
She went on to collect the 200m bronze medal at the 2024 African Championships.
Another tough opponent in the Heat is the Saint Kitts and Nevis 2024 national 100m and 200m champion, Zahria Allers-Liburd who is going to the Heat with 11.43 sec.
Sesay is confident she can perform and live up to expectations despite making her Olympic debut.
“This is the Olympic Games and I have seen how competitive it is. I am ready and determined to do my best on the world stage,” Sesay said.
