The National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone<\/span> (NOC SLE)<\/span> paid a two<\/span>–<\/span>day working visit to the International Olympic Committee<\/span> (IOC)<\/span> in Lausanne, Switzerland on 18<\/span>th<\/span>and 19<\/span>th<\/span> July 2023. President <\/span>Sualley<\/span> led a 6<\/span>–<\/span>man team on behalf of <\/span>the<\/span> NOC. <\/span>The IOC had 16 participants led by <\/span>President Thomas Bach and the Director of Olympic Solidarity, James Macleod<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Ms Catherine <\/span>Laville<\/span>, Senior Project Manager<\/span> at Olympic Solidarity \u2013 the primary vehicle the IOC uses to support projects \u2013 <\/span>led the first session <\/span>under the topic<\/span> NOC Management<\/span>. This was follow<\/span>ed<\/span> by an official presentation by NOC SLE to the IOC giving their parent body an overview of its operations<\/span>,<\/span> and an insight into the manifesto of <\/span>recently elected <\/span>President <\/span>Sualley<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n

In the afternoon, a courtesy visit was made to the IOC President Thomas Bach at Olympic House. The two leaders had a private meeting where they discussed a range of issues <\/span>centred <\/span>on collaboration<\/span>\u00a0and the shared vision of promoting Olympism in Sierra Leone. <\/span><\/p>\n

Thomas Bach presented a signed IOC Certificate of Recognition to the NOC SLE following the decision of the 62<\/span>nd<\/span> IOC Session in 1964<\/span>.<\/span> It <\/span>recognised the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone as a National Olympic Committee <\/span>in accordance with the Rules of the Olympic Charter<\/span>. <\/span>A<\/span>fter the meeting, the visiting delegation was given a guided tour of the Olym<\/span>pic House. <\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

On the second day Ms Marie Schwarz, another Senior Project Manager at <\/span>NOC <\/span>Information Services, NOC Relations steered a meeting on <\/span>NOCnet<\/span>\/RELAY\/Games Management platform. <\/span><\/p>\n

This was followed up by a meeting with the Head of Accounting and Grant Controlling Specialist at Olympic Solidarity on Finance. <\/span>The working sessions ended with two further meetings with Olympic Solidarity on Entourage and Sport Development. The visit was climaxed with a guided tour of the Olympic Museum. <\/span><\/p>\n

12 months before the Paris 2024 Olympics, NOC <\/span>SLE <\/span>departed with lots of ideas from the IOC on how to develop its governance and sporting infrastructure that will result in positive outcomes for all its member federations.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
