A <\/span>9 man<\/span> delegation from<\/span> Sierra Leone Aquatics Federation paid a courtesy call to the Head Office of the National Olympic Committee<\/span> (NOC) <\/span>on <\/span>17<\/span>th <\/span>January 2024.<\/span> Previously known as the Sierra Leone Swimming, Diving, and Water Polo Association it marked their first visit<\/span> under the new name<\/span> since the rebranding on 14<\/span>th<\/span> February 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

The President of the Aquatics Federation Mohamed <\/span>Turay<\/span> stated that the primary purpose of the visit was in recognition of the NOC as its parent body<\/span>, <\/span>and <\/span>their support is vital for Sierra Leone Aquatics to <\/span>function effectively<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

President <\/span>Turay<\/span> was <\/span>the main challenger to NOC President Prince <\/span>Sualley<\/span> at the elective congress of the National Olympic Committee held on 10<\/span>th<\/span> December 2022. <\/span>His visit signified a willingness to collaborate with President <\/span>Sualley<\/span>. <\/span>He<\/span> promised to<\/span> lend his expertise to enable the NOC to produce world-class athletes who can represent Team Salone at elite competitions on the continent and globally. <\/span><\/p>\n

Secretary General of the Aquatics Federation Abdul <\/span>Turay<\/span> highlighted the urgent need for collaboration as 2024 is an Olympic year<\/span>. He also stated that their Federation is working hard to support its athletes, especially those in the Swimming category, who could potentially qualify for the Games.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

President <\/span>Sualley<\/span> applauded the Aquatics Federation <\/span>noting <\/span>they have been one of the standout member federations in the Olympic family. He called on other sporting disciplines to emulate the success <\/span>of the Aquatics Federation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sierra Leone Aquatics has consistently produced athletes at recent major events such as the Tokyo Olympics and the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. In the build-up to the Paris Olympics the NOC President challenged the visiting delegation to continue on this trend.<\/span><\/p>\n

Climaxing the meeting a World Aquatics Banner was handed over to the NOC. <\/span>Thanking the Aquatics Federation for their kind gesture, President <\/span>Sualley<\/span> reminded them that the NOC HQ is their home and they are <\/span>always welcome to visit<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
